Bassist Dennis Dunaway and other members of Alice Cooper’s original band will be joining together for a one-night-only special performance next month in Nashville, Tennessee.
Along with Dennis and Alice, drummer Neal Smith and guitarist Michael Bruce will also be part of the reunion at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center on May 14. Their performance will take the form of a show-within-a-show mini-set during the concert, which will also feature Cooper’s regular touring band. The Nashville show will be the only stop on 2017’s Spend the Night with Alice Cooper tour to feature this reunion of the original band.
“We’ve recorded much of my last album and my new one in Nashville and it’s such a great music town,” Cooper said in a statement. “With so many musician, songwriter and producer friends here, as well as great rock fans who come to our concerts, it’s special to be performing with Neal, Michael and Dennis in Nashville for them.”
Dunaway, Smith and Bruce helped the shock rock legend write songs for an upcoming Alice Cooper solo album (that they’ll also be appearing on), which should be out this summer. Last year, the foursome also released a special limited-edition Record Store Day 7″ called Live From the Astroturf, featuring versions of “I’m Eighteen” and “Is It My Body” they recorded in 2015.
Cooper will be performing tonight in Biloxi, Mississippi. Looking forward, the busy shock rocker has shows scheduled in the U.S., Europe, Brazil and Australia clear through Dec. 7 this year.
