Flea makes a cameo — as does Iggy Pop — in a trailer for filmmaker Terrence Malick’s new film, Song to Song.
Starring Natalie Portman, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Michael Fassbender, the film is a love story set against the backdrop of the Austin, Texas music scene. It chronicles “two entangled couples” (played by Fassbender/Portman and Mara/Gosling) who
“chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.”
Malick, a recipient of the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or, previously directed The Thin Red Line (1988) and Days of Heaven (1978).
The trailer (SEE BELOW) offers glimpses of Flea playing his bass and Iggy Pop chatting it up with Gosling while sipping a glass of wine. Patti Smith, Florence and the Machine and Arcade Fire are also expected to appear in the film.
Song to Song will make its world premiere on March 10 at this year’s South By Southwest festival in Austin.
