Two thirds of ’70s rock supergroup revisit some of the trio’s classic hits

Keith Emerson and Greg Lake have released a new album, Live From Manticore Hall, featuring a collection of hits from the famed ’70s rock trio, Emerson, Lake & Palmer. The album, including ELP classics “From the Beginning,” “C’est La Vie” and “Lucky Man,” was recorded during Emerson and Lake’s world tour in 2010. “I think Greg and I gave it a personal touch with our Q&A sessions midway through the show,” said Emerson in a press release. “It was a delicate transformation that we present now.”

Conspicuously absent is ELP drummer Carl Palmer, who has expressed dissatisfaction with the band’s ability to recreate the magic they once possessed. “For me, it’s just a pride thing,” Palmer said last year. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the drummer said, “Unless it’s as good as what it can be, then I can’t do it. I would have carried on if it had been as good as it was. I don’t believe it was and I don’t believe it would have ever gotten back to that standard.”
