After a rough 2014, including multiple hospital visits, ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill is starting the new year in fine form. Hill joined his bandmates, Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard, on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night, performing their hits “Tush,” “La Grange” and “I Gotsta Get Paid.” And, according to the band, there’s lots more to come.
“Top” had to delay the start of their tour with Jeff Beck last summer when Hill underwent surgery for kidney stones in July. A month later, Dusty took a fall on the band’s tour bus, injuring his hip badly enough to force cancellation of the rest of the tour.
Hill seems to be feeling pretty strong these days, though. The band announced a series of rescheduled shows from January to May, including several dates where they will share the bill with Beck. “We’d like to thank our friends, fans and followers for all the support through the recent interruption,” the band said in a press release. “We’re happy to say the engine is firing on all cylinders and we’re ready to doubleback again … and then some.”
