Self-titled CD up for “Best Contemporary Instrumental Album” award

Bassist Nathan East has a had big year.  It began with his performance with Daft Punk at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards and is ending with the release this month of For The Record, a documentary about him.  Now East’s self-titled solo debut album, Nathan East, has been nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Contemporary Instrumental Album” category.

The album, released in March by Yamaha Entertainment Group, hit #1 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Albums chart and was #1 on for a record-breaking 36 weeks, where it is currently #9. It was produced by Yamaha Entertainment Group’s founder, Chris Gero, and engineered by Bryan Lenox.

East has been playing professionally since he was 16 years old. He’s the bassist on Daft Punk’s huge hit “Get Lucky.” He’s also the bassist on the iconic movie-soundtrack hit “Footloose.” East was a founding member of the successful group, Fourplay, and has recorded with many legendary artists including Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand and Stevie Wonder.
