British bass phenom talks music education, those ever-frequent Baked Potato gigs and Xotic basses!

Rufus Philpot is widely hailed for his mastery of the 4-, 5- and 6-string bass, as well as his exquisite command of the fretless bass. Originally from London, England, Rufus spent time in the New York music scene before relocating to Los Angeles, where he currently lives.

Well known for his work with acid jazz group Down to the Bone, Rufus has also toured with Greg Howe and Will Kennedy in the group K.P.H.

Throughout the course of his brilliant career, Rufus has also performed and/or recorded with Scott Henderson, Randy Brecker, Allan Holdsworth, Mitch Forman, Tony MacAlpine, Joel Rosenblatt, Al DiMeola, Kirk Covington, David Gilmore, Simon Philips and countless others.
