Versatile Boston-based bassist on upcoming releases and how he keeps his calendar so packed
By David Sands
Tony Puleo is a veteran Boston-based bassist known for his flexibility, fingering prowess and self-assurance on stage. The very definition of a well-rounded musician, he has years of experience doing studio, theater, advertising and commercial work; and his resume includes everything from touring with Carly Simon to playing and recording with the Blue Man Group. Currently, Puleo plays bass with the instrumental prog group Flight and the fusion project TSK. In addition to playing, he also works as a musical director and teaches.
During a meetup at the 2018 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim California, FBPO’s Jon Liebman got a chance to speak with Puleo about his time at Berklee, upcoming releases and the logistics of working as a professional musician today.
