Marilyn Manson bassist Twiggy Ramirez has been accused of rape and abusive behavior by former girlfriend Jessicka Addams.
Addams, who now sings with the alt-rock band Scarling and was the former frontwoman for the group Jack Off Jill, was in a romantic relationship with Ramirez (who’s given name is Jeordie White) during the 1990s. The singer posted an account of the alleged incident, which would have taken place more than 20 years ago, on Facebook last Friday (Oct. 20).
“I have lived with the overwhelming shame and guilt of being raped for well over 20 years now. Like many survivors, I unknowingly hid an abusive relationship in a most unhealthy way, masking it behind a fun loving, creatively artistic facade I struggled to wear on the outside world,” she wrote.
Addams added her record label had warned her back in 1997 that: “if I revealed my story publically, there would be a very good chance that my band Jack Off Jill would be black balled by concert promoters, radio programmers, and other bands and their managers.”
Marilyn Manson has since released a statement expressing sympathy for Addams.
“I knew Jessicka and Jeordie had a romantic relationship many years ago and I considered and still consider Jessicka to be a friend,” he said. “I knew nothing about these allegations until very recently and am saddened by Jessicka’s obvious distress.”
The allegations against Ramirez come in the wake of recent allegations of sexual misconduct against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein as well as the #metoo movement, which has involved women sharing stories of sexual assault and harassment online.
