Twiggy Ramirez, formerly a bassist with Marilyn Manson, has issued a response to allegations of rape by ex-girlfriend Jessicka Addams.
Addams, a former frontwoman with the alt-rock group Jack Off Jill, was in a relationship with Ramirez (who’s real name is Jeordie White) during the 1990s. Last Friday (Oct. 20), she posted to Facebook an alleged account of a sexual assault by the bassist, as well as abusive behavior, that would have taken place while they were dating.
Initially silent on the matter, Ramirez has now responded.
“I have only recently been made aware of these allegations from over 20 years ago,” he said in a statement. “I do not condone non-consensual sex of any kind. I will be taking some time to spend with my family and focus on maintaining my several years of sobriety. If I have caused anyone pain I apologise and truly regret it.”
Following Addams’ accusations last week, Ramirez was let go from Marilyn Manson.
“I have decided to part ways with Jeordie White as a member of Marilyn Manson,” Manson said in a tweet on Twitter. “He will be replaced for the upcoming tour. I wish him well.”
“This is a sad day,” he added in an Instagram post.
Although Addams has yet to publicly respond to White, she has remarked on Manson’s decision to let Ramirez go.
“Thank you. I am truly at a loss for words,” she tweeted on Tuesday (Oct. 24).
In response to a fan inquiry for further clarification on the matter, she added: “Discussions were had. Apologies made. That’s all the fans need to know!”
