Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age has a whole lot in store for fans in the coming months.
For one, QOTSA’s new album, Villains, is on the way and the group has just released a new trailer hyping it up called “Here. We. Come.” (SEE BELOW.) The video offers clips of the band playing a recent concert with frontman Josh Homme crying out: “Desperation leads to madness!”
Produced by Mark Ronson, The 9-track Villains is set for an Aug. 25 release. As an added treat, it will come with trading cards of each of the diabolical bandmates. Shuman’s features an illustrated version of himself surrounded by ghostly animal skulls and fun facts about a “deep addiction” and other topics.
QOTSA are currently touring New Zealand and Australia, with their next show set for Darwin, Australia on July 16. They’ll be returning stateside for a bunch of concerts in the U.S. and Canada beginning this August.
Beyond the new Queens recording, Shuman also has a new album by Mini Mansions — his project with Zach Dawes and Tyler Parkford — nearing release. The news was revealed in a July 4 CoupedeMain interview with Parkford, who said:
“The update is that it’s finished – as of a couple of weeks ago, basically finished. We’re working it out, but basically so far… we sealed the deal, the contract with Fiction…It’s really more a question of if we’ll release them as a slew of singles in the next year, or as just one thing.”
Mini Mansions intends to support the new album by taking their show on the road too, although the specific details of the tour have not yet been decided.
