World renowned supergroups Yes and Toto announced this week that they will embark on a 26-date tour of North America, beginning in August.

With decades-long success and a long string of hits for both bands, the pairing is truly special.  “Promoters always want to lump together bands who made records in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, but until now we’ve avoided touring with the obvious people,” says Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, who calls the grouping a “dream come true.”

Yes founder and bassist Chris Squire shares the sentiment.  “We’re thrilled to be hitting the road with Toto. Yes have always been big fans of Toto’s music, and we think the fans are going to really enjoy seeing both of us together.”

Prior to hitting the road with Yes, Toto will be touring Europe, making appearances at major festivals.  Their first new album in ten years, Toto XIV, was released in March.

Yes also has a new CD/DVD in the works, titled Like It Is, recorded at Arizona’s Mesa Arts Center.  It is scheduled for release July 7.

Despite Toto’s current success – Toto XIV debuted on the Billboard 200 – it is a bittersweet time for the band, with the recent loss of longtime bassist Mike Porcaro last month.  David Hungate, the band’s original bassist, will be on hand for the tour.
