Who's This Course For?

Before I tell you all about the program, let’s make sure you’re a good fit.

Bass Guitar for the Rocker in You!  is right for you if you love rock and roll, especially those classic rock songs from the ‘60s and ‘70s, and you want to learn to play that style on the bass.

This course is right for you if you want to know how to learn songs and understand the music theory behind all those notes.

And it's perfect for you if you’re tired of feeling totally lost every time you move your hand higher than, say, the 5th or 7th fret on the bass.

Does any of this sound like you?

1

You’ve dabbled with bass on and off, but never got very far with it.

You're finally ready to get serious about learning bass and playing rock and roll. No time like the present!

2

You’re retired or semi-retired and you’re finally ready to do what you’ve always wanted to do.

You worked hard all those years. Isn't it time you did something for yourself? You deserve it!

3

You think you’re too old to learn to play bass.

I love this one! I've taught thousands of people all over the world how to play bass A lot of them are in their 50s, 60s, and 70s... some are even in their 80s.

You're never too old to rock!

4

Your body just ain't what it used to be.

I feel your pain! Playing bass is not nearly as demanding on the body as most people think. If you feel like you’re being held back because of arthritis, tendonitis, creaky bones, achy joints… come on in and sit down.

I've got tons of stories from people just like that who are grooving away on the bass and having the time of their lives.

If you can relate to any of those things, you're in the right place.

Bass Guitar for the Rocker in You! (affectionately abbreviated BG4), will give you the tools, inspiration and the step-by-step guidance you need in order to do away with all the frustration, embarrassment, and lack of confidence you feel when trying to play your favorite music.

It's a good thing you're here!

After going through BG4, you will have learned all about...

MUSIC THEORY

You'll have a good grasp of music theory basics so you can recognize intervals, hear chords, and understand what’s “under the hood” of the music.

THE BASS FINGERBOARD

You'll be familiar with the bass fingerboard, all the way up and down the neck, so you no longer get lost when you venture up too high.

SCALES... THAT ROCK!

You'll learn to apply scales to actual music making, instead of mindless exercises you’ve always done just because you thought you were "supposed" to.

ROCK STYLES

You'll learn all about “feels and fills” in different types of rock grooves while expanding your rock bass grooving vocabulary big time.

LEARNING SONGS

You'll know how to learn new songs – even if you’ve never heard them before – with a whole lot less fumbling, guessing, and hoping!

DEVELOPING BASS LINES

You'll have the knowledge and skills to come up with your own rock bass lines that fit the song and make the music feel great!

Here's what's inside BG4

MODULE 1: INTRO TO MUSIC THEORY – THAT TOTALLY ROCKS!

Music theory isn't hard once you understand some basic principles. In this module, I "de-mystify" it for you.

In addition to learning how “all those notes” fit together, you'll  learn about how chords are built, as well as keys and key signatures, the Circle of Fifths, and how we use that information to make music, especially rock and roll!

Module 1 Highlights:

  • Intervals: It’s all about relationships.
  • Where do scales come from… and what are they for?
  • Keys and key signatures
  • Chords and chord structures for playing rock
  • Pentatonics: A huge part of the rock and roll sound!

MODULE 2: KNOW THY FINGERBOARD

No more feeling totally lost when you move up the bass fingerboard!

In this module, you'll learn how to master shapes and shifts, all up and down the bass, taking advantage of the awesome consistency of the instrument.

You'll learn to nail all the ranges, from open strings all the way to the 12th fret.

Outside of a couple exceptions (which you'll also learn), if you can play something anywhere on the bass, you can play it everywhere on the bass. And I'm going to show you how to do just that.

Module 2 Highlights:

  • The lowest (and arguably most important) range, including open strings
  • The in-between ranges
  • The upper range (the area you used to think of as the "stratosphere" range)
  • Grooving all over the bass -- with confidence!

MODULE 3: COMMON SONG FORMS IN ROCK

Have you ever had trouble trying to follow along to a song you don't know? Or worse, one you've never even heard before?

There are only so many places a chord progression can go. Building on the material from the earlier modules, you'll be playing along with some of the more common forms in rock, which will prepare you for what you'll likely encounter in the "real world."

What's more, you'll learn how to get the sounds of these chord changes in your ears, helping you predict where the song's going next, with a lot less fumbling, guessing, and hoping.

Module 3 Highlights:

  • Rock-style blues
  • Various configurations of the I, IV, and V7 chords
  • Learning to spot flat-VII and flat-VI chords
  • Progressions with major and minor chords

MODULE 4: FEELS & FILLS

Sometimes, even when you're playing the right notes in the right places, you can just tell something's missing, but you're not quite sure what it is.

In this module, you'll get plenty of practice not only playing the notes, but injecting the secret sauce, including the "right" fills, in order to make the music feel amazing!

You'll seriously expand your rock bass vocabulary too.

Module 4 Highlights:

  • Dotted quarter/8th note rock
  • Driving, "machine gun-style" rock
  • 12/8 Rock
  • Rock shuffle

MODULE 5: COMING UP WITH YOUR OWN ROCK BASS LINES

If you've ever felt stumped when you were called upon to play a tune you didn't know in a style you weren't familiar with, then you're gonna LOVE Module 5!

Here you're going to take everything you learned in the earlier modules and use it to develop your own rock bass lines.

You'll get some real, hands-on experience combining different song forms with different rock feels. You'll get a lot of practice reading chord charts too.

Module 5 Highlights:

  • Rock-style blues
  • Progressions with variations of I, IV, and V7 chords
  • The I-vi-IV-V progression
  • Shuffles
  • 12/8 rock
  • Driving 8th note rock

FAQ (In case you were wondering...)

How long will it take me to go through this course?

BG4 is entirely self-paced. You can put in as little or as much time as you like. There are no deadlines and there's no "behind." Whatever works for you!

I’m not sure this  course is for me. Can you explain who it's for?

BG4 is for someone who wants to play bass but often gets frustrated when trying to learn songs, understand music theory, and move up and down the bass fingerboard without getting lost.

Whether you're brand new to the bass or if you've dabbled with it on and off but never got very far, if it sounds like I'm describing you, you'd be perfect for this course!

Do I get all the modules at once, or are they spread out?

I'm glad you asked! The modules are "drip" fed. You'll get a new module every week. Don't worry, you'll have plenty to keep you busy in between!

I already know a little about bass. Will I learn anything new here?

I've been playing bass for almost 50 years and I'm still learning new stuff all the time.

Even if you have a basic grasp of some of the material I cover in this course, you might pick up a new insight, a new way of looking at things, or maybe just a good review.

No matter how much experience you have, this course will still be a good reference for you. There's no such thing as being too good of a rock groover!

I'm not as young as I used to be. Can I still learn bass?

I love this question!

I don't know your personal situation, but I can tell you that playing bass is not nearly as physically demanding as most people think.

In fact, I've got students in their 50s, 60s, 70s... even some in their 80s, and they love learning bass.

A lot of my students are also dealing with things like arthritis, tendonitis, back pain, shoulder pain... and they're amazed at how great they can make the music feel just by playing a super simple bass line.

And they're having a blast doing it!

I'm not sure I want to spend the money. What if I change my mind?

A fair question, to say the least.

Even though I'm selling the course for a fraction of its nearly $1,000 value -- and giving away almost $400 in bonuses too -- plunking down a few hundred dollars isn't something to be taken lightly.

Think of it as an investment in yourself, enabling you to do something you'd really enjoy, learning to play music you love and having a great time doing it.

If for any reason you change your mind or you decide it's just not for you, let me know within 21 days and I'll give you back all your money.

That's my promise to you. It's my no-risk guarantee.

And by the way, once you buy the course, you'll have lifetime access, including automatically receiving any upgrades or revisions!

If you're thinking, "This is amazing, but I'm still not 100% sure," keep reading...

You ought to give Bass Guitar for the Rocker in You a 21-day risk-free shot if you're motivated by any of the following:

Which one of these things motivates you the most?

YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO PLAY MUSIC, BUT NEVER MANAGED TO DO VERY MUCH ABOUT IT.

You've always loved rock and blues. Playing bass seems like fun, but you've never been able to get very far with it.

When you get together with others to play, it's awkward and frustrating, a little embarrassing even, when you don't know exactly what to do.

How badly do you want to change that?

EVERY TIME YOU HEAR ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS YOU SAY, "OOH, I'D LOVE TO PLAY THAT!"

There's just something about the music we listened to when we were younger, and certain songs have a way of taking us right back to those special times in our lives.

How many times have you imagined how much fun it would be to actually play that music?

Enough times to take some action?

YOU'RE WISE ENOUGH TO KNOW THERE'S NO "PERFECT TIME" AND WAITING IS NOT THE ANSWER.

What has to happen in order for you to be totally ready to learn bass? If it's something you've wanted to do for a long time -- and I have a feeling it is! -- ask yourself what you're waiting for.

When you say to yourself, "I'm definitely going to learn bass, just as soon as...," how do you finish that sentence? And are you happy with the answer?

A note from Jon...

Your personal guide to helping you learn bass, so you can do away with all that frustration and instead, start building confidence and having fun, playing music that you love!

Jon Liebman

Back in the early days, when I was still feeling my way through the process of learning bass, I felt unsure about so many things, and it showed in my playing. I wish I knew then what I know now about what it means to be a bass player.

Today, with over 40 years of experience as a professional bass player, including countless shows, tours, gigs, and recording sessions, I learned a LOT – often the hard way – about what it means to be a good, solid bass player. I’ve made it my mission to pass that knowledge and those skills on to others who want to play bass and have fun.

With 10 bestselling bass instruction books, a wildly popular website with over 800 exclusive bass player interviews, plus my highly acclaimed online bass resources, I’m privileged to have helped over 135,000 people learn bass.

If you’re waiting for the perfect time to learn bass -- just like you’ve always wanted to do -- when will that time be? (You already know the answer to that!)

This brand new course is the culmination of some of the top things I’ve discovered about what's really important when it comes to playing bass, especially rock bass.

It’s your chance to build confidence learning songs, understanding important music theory basics,  and getting comfortable moving your hand up and down the bass fingerboard, without feeling lost!

If that sounds like a worthwhile endeavor, Bass Guitar for the Rocker in You!  is just what you're looking for!

Come join me and I'll see you there.

Let’s play bass!
