Camaroonian native tells of being discovered by Paul Simon, composing with Stanley Clarke and lots more in new video interview!
Born in Camaroon, Armand Sabal-Lecco is a world-renowned bassist, composer and producer. After spending much of his youth in Paris, where his musical career began to take hold, Armand was invited to New York to play on Paul Simon’s Rhythm of the Saints album. Sabal-Lecco subsequently toured extensively with Simon after that and was the bassist for Simon & Garfunkel’s famed The Concert in Central Park album.
Armand Sabal-Lecco has also worked with the Brecker Brothers, Vanessa Williams, Herbie Hancock, Sting, Ray Charles, Stanley Clarke, John Patitucci, Carole King, Jeff Beck and many others.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman caught up with Armand at the Warwick headquarters in Markneukirchen, Germany.
