A native of the Carolinas, Tim Smith is a prolific bassist and producer. Hailing from a musical family, Tim grew up surrounded by music legends James Brown, Johnny Cash, Flatt & Scruggs and many others. Tim spent much of his career in Nashville, where he worked as a session player, touring artist and bandleader.
Smith has produced records for Bonnie Bramlett, Boots Randolph and his own Mr. Groove band, among others. He is currently on the faculty at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman caught up with Tim in his University of Miami teaching studio.
Tim Smith is a great player, invested teacher, and all-around good guy. Thanks for sharing this!
