You’ll find Bob Glaub’s name on more top-notch albums than you can probably count. Currently touring with Jackson Browne, he’s a consummate session bassist who’s toured and recorded with the likes of Bob Dylan, Donna Summers, Bruce Springsteen, Dolly Parton, John Fogerty, Aaron Neville, Journey, Stevie Nicks and more.
Glaub’s career got rolling in the early 70’s, after playing on a solo recording for Ed Jesse Davis, a professional guitarist known for working with Taj Mahal and Jackson Browne. That work led to high profile gigs with artists like John Lennon, Arlo Guthrie, Rod Stewart and Warren Zevon which in turn helped establish him as a familiar face on the L.A. session scene. More recently Glaub has worked with Lucinda Williams, Jerry Lee Lewis and LeAnn Rimes. His playing can also be heard on the soundtrack of the 2013 film Monsters University, scored by Randy Newman.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman recently met up with Glaub in Hollywood, California for a conversation that touched on his current projects, changes in the music industry and tips for young bassists seeking to find a foothold for their careers.
