Avishai Cohen is a visionary bassist, composer, arranger, and singer from Israel. He’s worked closely with world-renowned artists, including Chick Corea, Danilo Pérez, Brad Mehldau, Claudia Acuña, Joshua Redman, and Roy Hargrove. As the 28th recipient of the Montreal Jazz Festival’s Miles Davis Award, Avishai has cemented himself as a jazz and Latin music icon with over 20 boundary-pushing solo recordings plus an acclaimed catalogue of unique compositions featured in films, TV and other media. He attended The New School after moving to New York City in 1992, where he stayed until 2004 when he decided to return to Israel. Today, Avishai is involved in countless touring and recording projects. His new album Brightlight was released in the fall of 2024.
