How to add good fills into your bass playing

The right fills contribute a lot to the music.. but be careful

One part of playing bass that’s really fun is inserting fills.

Fills are great for keeping the pulse going in a song and making sure the rhythm and the feel don’t get lost.

If you ever find yourself wondering whether or not you should play a fill, consider these 3 questions:

  1. Does the song need it?
  2. Does it help the song?
  3. Is it in the same spirit as the rest of the song?

In this week’s video, I demonstrate some really good fills, talk about why they’re good, and provide some inspiration for you to start adding some fills in your own bass playing.

Check it out, then leave a comment below and tell me about your experience. Have fun.

Let’s play bass!
