He co-founded the Minutemen. He’s played bass with the Iggy & the Stooges and has been a member of fIREHOSE, Dos, and the supergroup Big Walnuts Yonder. Known for his eclectic musical influences and idiosyncratic playing, he’s been voted among the top bass players in numerous polls. He’s humble punk rock legend Mike Watt. First rising to prominence alongside Minutemen bandmate D. Boon, the Virginia native has since gone on to have a stellar solo career, been part of countless side projects, and collaborated with everyone from Frank Black to Kelly Clarkson. Here’s our latest interview with the maverick bass great.
