Paul Thompson is both a teacher and a student of bass. He’s made a name for himself analyzing bass lines, grooves and technique as played by a long list of prominent bass players. Paul has performed with Maynard Ferguson, Stanley Turrentine, Hubert Laws, Geri Allen, Bob James, John Pizzarelli, Phil Woods, Billy Porter, and many others. Currently, he’s very involved in the Pittsburgh music scene, playing jazz and doing pit orchestra work for musicals. He’s also an adjunct professor of jazz bass a Duquesne University and West Virginia University.
