Pantera, Kill Devil Hill member talks of new solo record, featuring his bass playing – and singing too!
Exclusive video interview with FBPO’s Jon Liebman
January 2, 2017
Best known as the bassist for iconic metal band Pantera, as well as Down and Kill Devil Hill, Rex Brown is broadening his reach. The consummate rocker is currently putting the finishing touches on his first-ever solo album. The as-yet-untitled record is scheduled for release in early 2017.
Rex says the project came together when he began collaborating with singer/composer Lance Harvill, whom he calls “an extraordinary songwriter and guitar player in his own right.” With this album, Brown says the two of them are “trying to put rock & roll back on the map!”
The new release also includes contributions from drummer Chris Williams and producer Caleb Sherman. And here’s the biggest surprise: Not only is Rex playing bass on the forthcoming album, he’s singing too!
FBPO’s Jon Liebman sat down with Rex recently to hear the whole story about the album, plans for a tour and more.
Rex Brown uses Warwick basses and Tech 21 amps.
