Anel (aka Anel Orantes Pedrero) has been on a tear lately, playing bass with Meytal, the metal group fronted by YouTube drum sensation Meytal Cohen and touring with the pop singer Daya.

Hailing from Chiapas, Mexico, Anel is a talented multi-instrumentalist with a predilection for the bass and u-bass. The classically trained musician has quite a musical background that includes playing with the Mexican cover band Arrazando, performing with the Spanish artist El Secreto de Alex on Eurovision, rocking out with the Top 40’s cover band Mischeif La and releasing an album with the L.A. rock group In The Key Of Earth. In addition to playing with Meytal, Anel also is a member of the band’s Party Posh and Sweet Child.

FBPO’s Jon Liebman recently caught up with in Anel in Hollywood, California for a chat that delved into her rigorous musical upbringing, musical studies in Mexico, Spain and the United States, plans for a upcoming solo release and more.
