Mike Pope has certainly made a lasting impression on the jazz world. A virtuosic electric and upright bass player — as well as an accomplished pianist — he’s performed and recorded with a long list of luminaries including Chick Corea, John Patitucci, the Brecker Brothers, Bill Bruford, Al DiMeola, Gil Evans, and Blood, Sweat & Tears. As a composer and bandleader, the bassist has also released several well-received albums of his own, such as 1996’s Walk Your Dogma and 2002’s Lay Of the Land. Pope is also known as a designer of amps and preamps as well as a respected educator who currently teaches with the Berklee College of Music’s bass department.
