Chris Walker is a bassist, vocalist, composer, and producer, perhaps best known as musical director for Al Jarreau for over 20 years. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Chris grew up in a musical family, starting his career in the church as a member of his family gospel group, The Walker Brothers. After graduating from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Chris attended the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York, where he got to play with the likes of Ornette Coleman, Art Blakey, Bob James, Jimmy Heath, and Cassandra Wilson before becoming musical director for Regina Belle.
