Virtuoso bassist describes his latest release, honoring the music of jazz legend Scott LaFaro

Brian Bromberg is a master of electric, upright, and piccolo bass. He’s performed and/or recorded with a varied list of musical luminaries, including jazz legends George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Elvin Jones, and Gerry Mulligan, as well as Whitney Houston, Elvis Costello, Vince Gill, Melissa Manchester, Lalo Schifrin, Joshua Bell, and countless others. He’s also released many solo albums as a leader and composer, covering everything from from straight-ahead jazz to funky slapping, and tribute albums to Jimi Hendrix and Antonio Carlos Jobim. His latest release, LaFaro, in which he pays homage to legendary bassist Scott LaFaro, was released in April 2024.
