Multi-string fretless bass virtuoso shares inspiration for latest album, physical fitness, and healthy mindset

Yves Carbonne is a French electric bassist, contrabassist, and sub-bass guitarist most known for his pioneering work with 8-, 10- and 12-string fretless basses, as well as his original use of the 2-string bass. As a composer and arranger, his primary focus is on wide-ranging musical composition and instrumental research. Among many notable guests, Yves featured acclaimed bassists Michael Manring and Marcus Miller on his first two solo albums. His latest album, Tales of the Reconstruction, was released in November of 2023 and is widely considered to be his most mature work yet, where the bass is offered in all its forms. Yves taught bass at the PESMD Bordeaux Nouvelle-Aquitaine from 2018 to 2021 and currently produces online bass content on all social media platforms.
