When you play a walking bass line, do you ever have trouble picking just the “right” notes when the music changes from one chord to another?
Many years ago, one of my teachers, Dan Pliskow, gave me a tip for making my walking lines sound smooth, well connected, and flowing, specifically when the chords change.
It has to do with using certain intervals in the lines. It’s actually an easy concept to grasp. And what a difference it’s made to the overall feel of the music whenever I’m playing a walking bass line!
I cover it all in this week’s video, with examples and demonstrations, where I show you exactly what to do and how to do it.
Watch the video, then give it a try and let me know how it goes. Be sure to share your reaction below. I’d love to hear from you.
Let’s play bass!
