First-call NYC bass doubler on balancing a jazz career and Broadway pit work, touring with Lea DeLaria

Marco Panascia is an Italian-born upright and electric bassist who has resided in New York City since 2002. Currently a member of Lea DeLaria’s working band, Marco has performed and/or recorded with an impressive list of jazz and pop luminaries, including Herbie Hancock, Lee Konitz, Randy Brecker, Roy Hargrove, Mike Stern, Postmodern Jukebox, Natalie Cole, Patti LaBelle, and Italian operatic pop trio Il Volo. Having subbed regularly for over a dozen successful Broadway productions, Marco is a first-call bassist in the NYC musical theater scene and has performed in classic shows such as Wicked, Disney’s The Lion King and Frozen, and the groundbreaking Off-Broadway show Sleep No More for five years. Marco earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Berklee College of Music before earning his Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He is now an adjunct faculty member at the New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Manhattan.
