Aaron “P-Nut” Wills lays down the chunky bass lines that play a definitive part in making 311’s distinctive blend of rock, reggae, hip-hop, funk and metal what it is. Known for its passionate fan base, the quintet has sold more than nine million albums–many of which have attained gold or platinum status–and has had nine singles appear on the Top Ten of Billboard’s Alternative Rock charts. A founding member, P-Nut shares in the writing of the 311’s music and lyrics in addition to taking care of the group’s low-notes. Over the years, he’s also collaborated with artists like Amy Winehouse, Bootsy Collins, Dido and Boyz 2 Men.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman sat down to chat with P-Nut about influences, his Warwick signature bass
and an upcoming 311 album during a recent 311 concert stop in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
