California native Billy Gould is a bassist, songwriter and producer, best known for his work with rock band Faith No More. He is also the founder of Koolarrow Records. FBPO’s Jon Liebman caught up with Billy at the 2015 winter NAMM show.
Met Billy WAY too many years ago at a meet and greet. That night he walked past me in the beer garden at the College they were playing, got a drink, and came back and just chatted about everything while Soundgarden did a phenomenal opening set. What a great guy. Funny how he mentioned the edge he got from his old Peavey amp. He was using one of the old 800 watt Peavey MAX heads and every time he touched a string the DDT Compression light would come on. Guys like this are why you have to just mic the bass cabinet sometimes. A DI will not get his sound. Great interview.
