December 21, 2015
Detroit-bred Byron Miller, a/k/a “Psycho Bass,” has been an active member of the music scene for over 40 years. Throughout his stellar career, Byron has performed and/or recorded with jazz legend George Duke (most notably on Duke’s “Reach For It” hit), as well as Roy Ayers, Santana, Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample, Marvin Gaye and Whitney Houston. Miller also worked with the late Luther Vandross for 16 “so amazing” years.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman caught up with Byron at the 2015 gathering of Bass Player Live! in Hollywood to discuss Byron’s brand new release, Psycho Bass, which includes three of George Duke’s last recorded performances. Psycho Bass also features drummer Ndugu Chancler, guitarist David T. Walker and celebrated percussionist Sheila E.
