Jazz bass vet recounts experiences with Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Bruno and a very special Ray Brown story
Exclusive interview with FBPO’s Jon Liebman
July 20, 2015
Craig Thomas has been one of the most in-demand bass players and educators in the Philadelphia area since the mid 1970s. A graduate of the Philadelphia Music Academy (now the University of the Arts), Craig also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and a Master of Arts in Music degree from Rowan University.
Over the past four decades, Thomas has performed with some of the biggest names in music, including Buddy Rich, Frank Sinatra, Philly Joe Jones, Mel Lewis and Pat Martino, in addition to extended gigs with guitarist Jimmy Bruno.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman caught up with Craig at the 2015 International Society of Bassists convention in Ft. Collins, CO.
Great interview Jon.
