In the world of extended-range basses, Igor Saavedra stands tall as one of the preeminent players of the 8-string electric bass. A native of Chile, Igor’s internationally known for his commitment to the instrument as well as his own Vectorial Synthesis bass technique. Saavedra is both a renowned solo bass artist, who’s toured extensively around the world, and a respected sideman, having collaborated with the likes of Chuck Rainey, Dave Ellefson, Fareed Haque, Bob Sheppard, David Garfield, and Hans Zurmühlen. Beyond that, he’s an accomplished educator and author, as well as the inventor of the “Mic Ramp” device for facilitating adjustable built-in bass pickups.
