Bass superstar brings us up to date on current and future projects in this new, one-on-one video interview
Exclusive video interview with FBPO’s Jon Liebman
July 29, 2013
Five-time GRAMMY winner Victor Wooten began his musical training the age of two. While still a child, young Victor began performing and touring with his brothers in nightclubs and theaters. Before graduating from high school, Victor and his brothers had shared the stage with an impressive list of musical luminaries, including Stephanie Mills, War, Ramsey Lewis, The Temptations and several others.
Wooten rose to international prominence in 1990 as a founding member of the super-group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. In addition to the star status attained with Fleck, Wooten has since garnered unparalleled respect for his own solo recordings and tours.
Victor Wooten has won virtually every award given to a bass guitarist, including being voted “Bass Player of the Year” in Bass Player magazine’s reader’s poll three times (the only person ever to win more than once). In 2011, Rolling Stone magazine voted Victor one of the top ten bassists of all time.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman caught up with Victor at the 2013 convention of the International Society of Bassists.
