R&B bassman on auditioning for and touring with David Foster

Bassist and MD Kern Brantley’s touch can be found all over the R&B and pop music worlds. He’s toured with Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Destiny’s Child and other well known artists, often working as a musical director with them. And Brantley’s also appeared on more than 100 albums, most notably multi-platinums with Will Smith, LL Cool J and 98 Degrees as well as a Grammy-winning live album with The Winans. In addition to straight-up music, he’s also been a familiar face on television shows like The Tonight Show, Late Night With David Letterman, Ellen, Oprah and Saturday Night Live and appeared on the Grammy and Oscar award shows.

FBPO’s Jon Liebman met up with him at the Mix Factory 1 Recording Studio in Southfield Michigan to find out more about his favorite gear and current work with David Foster.
