Jaco Pastorius was a true bass legend. His contribution to music is nearly beyond description, particularly the way in which he singlehandedly changed the way the electric bass guitar is played today. Jaco is known for his long association with the band Weather Report, as well as his collaborations with Joni Mitchell and his own critically acclaimed solo albums.
A native of Santa Monica, California, Robert Trujillo is best known for his role as the bassist in heavy metal super group Metallica. He has also played with Infectious Grooves, Suicidal Tendencies and the iconic Ozzy Osbourne.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman caught up with Robert Trujillo at the Warwick headquarters in Markneukirchen, Germany, to talk about Trujillo’s upcoming documentary on the life and music of Jaco Pastorius.
