Nick Rosaci is the author of Soul Fingers, a new musical biography about legendary Stax Records studio bassist Donald “Duck” Dunn.
A bassist himself, Rosaci has over 25 years experience as a studio and performing musician, having played in or led jazz groups, big bands, show bands and orchestras in a dozen countries.
Professional fluent with five instruments, he’s played just about every genre imaginable and performed with entertainers like George Benson, Nestor Torres, Joan Rivers, and Lou Diamond Phillips. Rosaci is also a skilled arranger and transcriber, who offers his versatile sheet music services to musicians around the world.
In fact, it was through transcribing Dunn’s work that he became interested in the great bassist, who’s known for working with artists like Booker T. & the MGs, Otis Redding and Elvis Presley, as well as his role as a bassist in the original Blues Brothers movie. Soul Fingers: The Music & Life of Legendary Bassist Donald “Duck” Dunn, published by Hal Leonard Corp., is available in the FBPO store.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman recently had an opportunity to speak with Rosaci about the book, his own background as bassist and Dunn’s famous Fender bass (which was brought along for the interview).
