Christian Fabian, longtime bassist for the Lionel Hampton Big Band, does it again with the Fabian Zone Trio’s release, Of the Essence. For this collection, Fabian is ably supported by Steve Hunt (Stanley Clark, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turentine) on keyboards  and Steve Michaud (Alan Holdsworth, David Hines) on drums. The album also features special guests Bill Vint (Aretha Franklin, The Temptations) on tenor saxophone and Lance Bryant (Bootsy Collins, Lou Rawls) on tenor and soprano saxophone. Of the Essence is a mix of original funk and groove songs, featuring Christian on a variety of electric basses.
