Whitesnake’s newest member on “normalizing” the growing trend of women in rock
Exclusive video interview with FBPO’s Jon Liebman
December 20, 2021
“First Ireland, then the world” is how you might describe Tanya O’Callaghan’s career trajectory. A native of Mullingar, Ireland, the dreadlocked bassist first took the Emerald Isle by storm, playing with a slew of Irish music groups and appearing with the house bands of numerous well-known Irish television shows. Since that time, she’s relocated to Los Angeles, and toured and recorded with some very recognizable rockers, including Dee Snider, Steven Adler, Maynard James Keenan, Nuno Bettencourt, David Gray, and Orianthi. Beyond that, O’Callaghan is also an activist and advocate for animal, human and environmental causes, and co-hosts a TV show with Derrick Green of Sepultura called Highway to Health, which focuses on cultures, cuisines and eco-friendly innovations. And in a still very recent development, she joined on as Whitesnake’s newest member just last month.
