Do you ever had trouble learning new songs on the bass?

Too much muddling, guessing, and hoping you’ll hit the right note?

I feel your pain. I used to suffer from that myself. Frustrating, isn’t it? Even kind of embarrassing.

Well, no worries, my friend. There is a solution.

First, let me ask you: How many songs do you know? I mean really know?

Whether you know a ton of songs, or hardly any at all, that’s okay. Start wherever you are.

First, in a simple, non-complicated way, make note of how the chord progressions move and where they go. Even if you only do this simple analysis on two or three songs, you’re bound to find some commonalities in the way they’re structured.

When you get to songs 3 and 4, you’ll notice even more similarities. And by the time you get to songs 5, 6, 7… you’ll say, “Is this all there is to it?”

Think I’m oversimplifying it? Mmm… not that much.

Watch this week’s video and you’ll see how it works. Then, leave me a comment below with your biggest takeaway. I want to hear from you!

This process helped me a ton. I’m sure it’ll do the same for you.

Enjoy.

Let’s play bass!
