Nashville bassist shares details on new album with Jeff Coffin, touring with Robert Plant

Viktor Krauss is a bassist and composer based in Nashville, TN, who has appeared on over 600 albums. Brother to vocalist and fiddler Alison Krauss, Viktor is most recognized for being the longtime bass player with Lyle Lovett’s band. He has performed or recorded with a who’s who of artists including James Taylor, Carly Simon, Chet Atkins, Elvis Costello, Dolly Parton, Harry Connick Jr., Tom Jones, Joan Baez, Robert Plant, Bill Frisell, John Fogerty, and Sheryl Crow. In 2006, Viktor was awarded a fellowship for the prestigious Film Composers’ Lab at the Sundance Institute, and his film composing credits include music for directors Ken Burns and the late Robert Altman. His music has also appeared in “bumpers” between shows for National Public Radio. Viktor has released three solo recordings to date, plus 2023’s most recent trio album Coffin/Perlson/Krauss featuring Jeff Coffin and Jordan Perlson.
