Where My Bass Journey Began

Stories from my earliest musical memories

Think of this week’s Tales From the Pit episode as kind of a prequel — a look back at how it all began, before the years of touring, recording, and professional playing.

I thought it would be relevant to talk about growing up in a musical family, with a dad who was a rock-and-roll DJ and used to take us to concerts. Those early memories set the stage for everything that came later — and for the stories I’ll be sharing in Tales From the Pit… and Beyond.

Even if your upbringing was different — and chances are, it was — hopefully you can still relate to how the love of music connects us all, and that it’s never too late to make it part of your life again.

Watch the video and let me know what you think — I’d love to hear your reaction.

Let’s play bass!

As always Jon, great to hear your story and yes, it is so similar to mine. Keep them coming.

Really? I didn’t know that, Colin. You’ll have to tell me more…

Playing catch up, been working out of state. This was awesome. My Dad worked part time in a Milwaukee record store when I was a kid. Music was a constant. Thanks for sharing this.

Glad you enjoyed it, John. Thanks for weighing in!
