Passionate music educator stresses the importance of bass fundamentals

Charley Sabatino is a bassist, composer, and educator, based in New York City. Charley, who plays both upright and electric bass, has performed in the major clubs in NYC, the Stockholm Jazz Festival and just about everywhere in between. He’s been on The Today Show, backing the Children’s Aid Society Chorus, and at Lincoln Center with Ben Vereen. Charley is an Adjunct Professor at York College in Queens and a volunteer teacher for Guitar 4 Vets. He also performs clinics on the fundamentals of electric and upright bass as well as improvisation for all instruments. Charley holds a Master of Arts in Music degree from LIU CW Post, and has studied with Billy Bauer, Harvie S., Jeff Andrews, Tony Oppenheim, Lyn Christie, Mike Pope and Raoul Pleskow.
