NS/Stick master talks touring with Unitopia, home recording post-COVID, and crafting melodic bass lines

Don Schiff is a master of the Chapman “Stick” bass. He has performed, written, or recorded with the biggest names in music history, including Elvis Presley, Tina Turner, Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr., Sheryl Crow, Herbie Hancock, Al Green, Pat Benatar, and Eddie Money. Originally an electric bassist, Don relocated from Delaware to Las Vegas after high school where he met and worked with many music icons of the day. By 1977, he relocated again to Los Angeles after discovering the NS/Stick, which led to a prolific career in the recording industry as well as him founding the progressive rock band the Rocket Scientists. He currently resides in Napa, CA, where he focuses on writing and recording.
