Graham Maby, best known as Joe Jackson’s bassist for more than 40 years, talks about his approach to tone, taste, and serving the song as a bass player. He also reflects on other career highlights, which has included working with the likes of Marshall Crenshaw, They Might Be Giants, Joan Baez, and Regina Spektor, and shares an update on his upcoming memoir, Call Me Maby: A Bass Odyssey.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! As a long-time Joe Jackson fan, and a working bassist myself having been active for over 50 years, I have long admired the playing of the great Graham Maby. It’s wonderful to see him get his due, and I so enjoyed your interview with him. I met him briefly in Knoxville, TN in an informal meet-and-greet after the opening night of the Joe Jackson tour in support of his “Fool” album, and he could not have been nicer, even signing my copy of Bass Player magazine with Graham on the front cover. I love Joe’s music, and I love Graham’s playing.

Hi! Very nice and informative interview with Graham Maby, but could you please revise your written blurb about it to more accurately reflect the contents? Graham doesn’t reflect on his time with TMBG, Joan Baez, or Regina Spector (unless I missed that somehow?)
