Cincinnati funk man talks to FBPO about his hot new release, gear, future plans and what it’s like working with Bootsy Collins

Hailing from Cincinnati, OH, Freekbass is a funk sensation who’s been capturing the attention of music fans everywhere.

Having been mentored by funk sensation Bootsy Collins, who calls him “the new spiritual warrior for the funk,” Freekbass, along with The Bump Assembly, has released several albums as a leader, including his latest, Cincinnati, on Ropeadope Records.

In addition to Collins, Freekbass has collaborated over the years with DJ Spooky, Adam Deitch, Steve Molitz, Phish bassist Mike Gordon, guitarist Buckethead, P-Funk/Talking Heads keyboardist Bernie Worrell and many others.  Freekbass proudly plays D’Addario strings.
