Double bassist, podcaster talks of the growing trend of people learning bass later in life

Jason Heath is known for his association with the double bass, both performing with the instrument and fostering discussions about it. With more than 25 years’ experience as a professional musician, playing with a variety of organizations including the Sioux City Symphony and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Heath is also a seasoned educator, who’s served on the faculty of DePaul University, and is a former board member of the International Society of Bassists. In the bass community, he may be best known as the host of the Contrabass Conversations podcast. Speaking with bassists around the world and covering topics ranging from tuning to classical vs. jazz pizzicato, the series has broadcast more than 900 episodes.
