Joseph Patrick Moore is one of those musicians who clearly has a deep hunger to explore new vistas. That drive is evident when looking at the sheer number of hats he wears; Moore is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, producer, author, and educator, as well as record label co-owner. During his college years, he majored in both classical studies and jazz performance, with a concentration on electric and double bass, first attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and later transferring to the University of Memphis. Once in Memphis, he began playing regular jazz and R&B gigs on Beale Street with the Charlie Wood Trio, quickly establishing himself as a fixture on the local music scene. Over the years, Moore has collaborated with the likes of Earl Klugh, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Stewart Copeland, Marie Osmond, Jerry Lewis, and Carol Channing. In the early 2000s, he founded Blue Canoe Records, the first online all-digital independent jazz label. Moore has also released numerous solo albums, most recently 2019’s Nevada Sun.
