Among other things, multi-instrumentalist, engineer and producer Kevin Keith has carved a name for himself through his memorable work with the Chapman Stick. With drum machine player David Haynes, he’s the co-founder of the Electronic Jazz Ensemble, an urban jazz and R&B project that leans heavy into music’s technological side—and features prominent usage of the Chapman Stick. Keith has also worked as a studio engineer with Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio and as a composer through a division of Warner Brothers. His musical output can be found on numerous albums, video games and TV shows.
FBPO’s Jon Liebman met up with Keith during this year’s Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California, for a conversation about his new solo album, the benefits of playing the Chapman Stick and his upcoming plans.
