Peter Risman –
Hands down the BEST music instruction book that I have ever used. A year’s worth of challenging exercises that actually SOUND like music, with each one lasting over a minute. Most music instruction books concentrate on theory and techniques, with tiny 2-4 bar examples that leave me wondering “WTH do I do with this…?” *Bass Aerobics* lessons teach techniques through exercises that are 28 bars long. I went through the same cycle for every exercise:
– Day 1: “This is impossible…”
– Day 3: “OK, now I see where this is going…”
– Day 7: “Easy-peasy. What’s next?”
I really recommend this book for anyone who’s had their fill of theory and technique snippets, and just wants to learn to play better.

I’m retired. Bought an Epiphone Les Paul Bass when they were available. FUN to play. BASS AEROBICS changed my life. I now look forward to practice because I’m always going to learn something new, improve my fingering, and MAKE MUSIC playing the Bass Aerobics work outs. Jon provides backing tracks that are interactive. You can speed up, slow down, focus on the whole BAND or just on the BASS part. It’s FUN! Did I just say that? Practicing “in the wood shed” is now FUN! In just a few weeks my musicality is way up. My fingers fly across the fretboard. Even my arthritis seems to be improving because of the activity. I’m working through Bass Aerobics about one new lesson per week. By the end of 52 weeks I will not only know more about what I’m doing and why, I will be playing GOOD MUSIC. Bass Aerobics is a passport to playing GOOD MUSIC and having FUN. What more could you want from a music training book? It is FABULOUS. THANK YOU to Jon and ForBassPlayersOnly.COM
