The Heart of a Champion is an exciting work by a jazz, trio called, Trio-Now. Six of the seven songs on The Heart of a Champion are written the award winning composer/bassist, Bruce Gertz. The remaining track was written by the celebrated former Allan Holdsworth band, pianist, Steve Hunt. Steve is a monster pianist who also toured and performed with legendary bassist, Stanley Clarke. Bruce and Steve are joined by veteran drummer, Jack Diefendorf who’s highly developed style shines brightly here. The sound of the recording is exceptional. A nine foot, Steinway concert grand piano, an 1887 Czek, acoustic bass and a vintage Sonor drumset, all played and mixed beautifully.
